さしあげる【差し上げる】

1 〔持ち上げる〕 lift (up) [raise, hold up] 《one's hand》 (above one's head).

●子供を高く差し上げる raise [lift] a child aloft

・彼は優勝カップを高々と差し上げた. He raised [lifted, held] the trophy up high (above his head).

2 〔進呈する〕 give; present 《sth to sb, sb with sth》; make a present of sth; let sb have; offer. [＝あげる¹ 10]

●これはあなたに差し上げるのです. I'm giving this to you.

・〔店で〕 何を差し上げましょう. What can I show you, sir [ma'am]? | May I help you, sir [ma'am]?

・小猫欲しい方無料で差し上げます. 〔掲示〕 Am giving away kittens to anyone who would like one.

3 〔(動詞の連用形に「て(で)」を伴い)敬意や丁寧な気持ちを添える〕 do for you.

●お安くして差し上げましょう. I'll give you a discount.

・遅くなりましたら(車で)送って差し上げますから, どうぞご安心ください. If it goes on till late I'll drive you home, so don't worry about the time.

・お荷物を運んで差し上げなさい. Carry some of her bags for her.
